Empowering Cleaner Energy Decisions

2011 RETScreen Conference & Training Institute

Niagara Falls, Canada – June 20-22, 2011

Natural Resources Canada hosted the 2011 RETScreen Conference & Training Institute, which took place from June 20-22, 2011 at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. This event brought together over 270 engineers, architects, financial planners, energy decision-makers and other key RETScreen users from about 40 different countries. The aim was to broaden and deepen the use of the RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis Software and facilitate networking within the 300,000+ RETScreen user community, who now exist in every country and territory in the world. Attendees included renewable energy, energy efficiency and cogeneration project stakeholders from industry, academia, government, and non-governmental organizations.

This was a two part event. A one-day plenary conference in English took place on June 20th and simultaneous interpretation into French was provided. It was an opportunity to experience the world of RETScreen through dynamic and experienced speakers who provided a broad overview of where RETScreen currently is—and where it is going. On June 21st and 22nd, there was a two-day intensive training institute on clean energy project analysis and the various modules in the RETScreen software, conducted by RETScreen staff and other experts from industry. Participants were able to attend a variety of seminars in four parallel learning tracks: project analysis; energy efficiency; heating & cooling; and power.
