The worked-out solution is the data file selected from within the RETScreen Project Database. The user automatically downloads the Project Database file while downloading the RETScreen software.
- Energy efficiency measures result in 10% reduction in peak heating load and 5% reduction in peak electricity load
- Install two new 100 kW micro-turbines (natural gas fuelled) to generate power and heat for the apartment and sell excess power to the grid
- Heat rate for the micro-turbines is 12,000 kJ/kWh
- Cost of installed gas turbines is $2,000/kW
- Gas turbines operate at full capacity, heat recovery efficiency is 60%
- Can sell electricity to grid at $0.10/kWh and can buy, if required, at $0.12/kWh
- New high efficiency 3,500 kW natural gas boiler used for peak heating loads
- Cost of boiler is $175,000
- O&M cost for new system are $40,000 per year
