Empowering Cleaner Energy Decisions

Refrigeration

The energy performance of a refrigeration system is influenced by a number of factors. These typically include the number of hours that the process is operating, the cooling load of the refrigeration system itself and the duty cycle (on/off cycling) for each system. Refer to the Refrigeration Cycle Schematic for more information.

Software & Data
The RETScreen Software Refrigeration Model can be used worldwide to evaluate the energy use and savings, costs, emission reductions, financial viability and risk for refrigeration energy efficiency measures. The software can model a wide variety of projects ranging from cooling load reduction by adding or increasing insulation on pipes and heat exchangers in supermarkets or by reducing the ice thickness and controlling adequately the ice temperature in a hockey, skating or curling arena, to refrigeration system operation time reduction by storing chilled water or brine for cooling processes in industrial facilities. The software (available in multiple languages) also includes product, project and climate databases, and a detailed user manual.
