HEATING & COOLING PROJECT ANALYSIS (202)




Purpose

To introduce the RETScreen Heating & Cooling Project Model and train participants on how to properly use the software to assess the technical & financial viability of various types of heating and cooling technologies and applications.

Overview

The RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis Software can be used to evaluate various types of Heating Projects, Cooling Projects and Combined Heating & Cooling Projects. The software can be used to assess projects incorporating a variety of heating and/or cooling equipment, all working under various operating conditions (base load, intermediate load and/or peak load), for any one or combination of the following applications: single buildings or multiple buildings; industrial processes; communities; district heating and district cooling; crop drying, etc. Further, it permits analysis with a wide range of renewable and conventional (fossil) fuels (which can be used in parallel), including landfill gas; biomass; bagasse; biodiesel; biogas; hydrogen; natural gas; oil/diesel; coal; municipal waste, etc.

Course Outline

This intermediate-level course will provide intensive instruction on RETScreen's Heating & Cooling Project Model, including:
  • Overview of heating & cooling project analysis
  • Biomass heating project analysis
  • Combined heating & cooling project analysis
  • Ground-source heat pump project analysis
  • Solar water heating project analysis
  • Solar air heating project analysis
  • Hands-on completion of project templates and case studies

Target Audience

Course participants typically include engineers, architects, scientists and technicians who have already used RETScreen for a particular technology or application, but who would like to expand and deepen their knowledge of the Heating & Cooling Project Model, as well as learn helpful tips-and-tricks to strengthen their analyses.

Prerequisites

A university or college degree in a technical or analytical field, or equivalent experience.
