Empowering Cleaner Energy Decisions

Reporting

Within a monitoring, targeting and reporting (MT&R) system, reporting has a number of functions:
  • to create motivations for energy/water saving (or increasing energy production) actions
  • to report regularly on performance
  • to monitor overall energy costs
  • to measure cost savings or energy production revenue

Within most organisations, the need for the type of information generated by a monitoring, targeting and reporting system varies with level and responsibility. Typically, as the need moves from the facility operator level within the plant or building operation to the managerial level, and eventually to senior decision-makers, the requirement for detail diminishes, as does the frequency of reporting.

Operations staff need energy control information to stimulate specific energy savings actions, while managers and senior decision-makers need summary information with which to guide the organisation’s energy management effort. This is depicted in the Reporting Pathways for a MT&R System example. A one-size-fits-all report may not result in the appropriate decisions being made and/or actions being taken. The format of the reports is unique to each organisation, and to each level of management.

The Reporting Worksheet within the RETScreen Performance Analysis Module enables the user to create, edit and output various datasets and figures needed to properly present the analysis of the project. The reporting section provides the user with a selection of high-level standardised reports, as well as detailed-level customisable reports.

The user can prepare custom reports that include more detailed information, including time-series graphs, regression analysis, CUSUM charts, project control charts, and the user is able to select, save, print and export these reports in multiple formats (e.g. PDF, png, csv, etc.).
