Building envelope properties

The Building envelope properties tool is used to calculate the effective thermal resistance (R-value) or thermal conductance (U-value) of a specific building envelope assembly, using the type of material and thickness of the cavity and the frame for up to 8 layers. The model can also take into account up to 3 other envelope penetrations, such as exposed concrete floor slabs.

This tool is a more detailed companion tool for the Building envelope form for Energy efficiency measures projects. After completing the input cells below the user should return to the Building envelope form to enter the the effective thermal resistance (R-value) or thermal conductance (U-value) for specific building envelope assembly calculated at the bottom of this tool.
